Rider University and Westminster Choir College License Plates

With over 40,000 Rider and Westminster alumni and students calling the Garden and Keystone States their home, we would like to start alumni license plate programs.  The catch is that we need 500 people signed up for each plate in New Jersey and 300 in Pennsylvania before we can submit our requests.

A Timely Tribute
While many will gather with family and friends to enjoy barbecues this Memorial Day weekend, parades and services will also take place to honor United States service men and women who have lost their lives in combat. Rider alumnus Ethan Lefkowitz ’06 recently produced a documentary that gives a voice to those who served in World War II. Lefkowitz’s The New Jersey World War II Memorial: A Veteran’s Day Tribute to the Greatest Generation is a video documentary about the New Jersey World War II Memorial and local veterans.

Renaissance Man
When Michael Gorostiza, a December ’08 graduate, hands out his business card, the recipient might be surprised by his title – or titles, for that matter: Michael David Gorostiza – Biologist, Composer. While they are two distinct disciplines, Gorostiza will have a chance to study both his passions in the fall, when he pursues an M.A. in Environmental Policy at Harvard University and studies Music Theory at the New England Conservatory. He plans to divide his time studying at the conservatory during the day and taking classes at Harvard by night.

Taking Care of Business
Like most entrepreneurs, Vincent Padalino was drawn by the lure of profit, selling graphics T-shirts out of the trunk of his car while still in high school. “After a while, though, I started making some decent money and it got serious,” said Padalino, who earned his bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurial Studies on May 15. So, he formed Vestiwear, LLC, which, in turn, has earned him something besides income. The budding businessman captured first place in the New Jersey Student Entrepreneur of the Year for 2009 awards at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards on May 5.
