One Rider University alumna and one student could have the opportunity to grace
the red carpet for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards this March. Kelly Dixon, a December 2009 graduate, and Gina Grosso, a
junior Communication major, have been
selected as one of the top 10 pairs of finalists in the MTV U Oscar® Red Carpet

SBI’s Decade of Dominance Continues Call it a decade of dominance for the Small Business Institute (SBI) at Rider.
The SBI, a program through which teams of graduate students or senior Business
majors provide confidential consulting to small businesses and organizations
under faculty supervision, has once again seen a team from Rider recognized in
national competition. Lisa Teach, who earned an M.B.A. in August 2009, and
current graduate student Christian McCracken, earned third place in the national
Small Business Institute Consulting Project of the Year competition this winter.
Students Learn Leadership on the Go
at Wawa  Rider students seeking a role model in business leadership and excellence need
only follow the footprints that lay before them. Over forty years ago, Howard
Stoeckel ’67 found himself with a degree and trying to open the doors to a
career. Stoeckel, now the CEO of the Wawa, Inc., shared his thoughts on business
with a group of 20 Rider students at the Wawa Leadership Trip on January 21 at
Wawa Corporate Headquarters.
McEwen Keeps Banks in Check
Before his junior year of high school, Terry K. McEwen M.B.A. ’98 was unsure about his future career goals. That all changed when he sat down with his history teacher, George Warren. “He gave me insight about the banking industry because math was one of my strongest fields,” McEwen recalled. After following his instructor’s advice, McEwen is now the highest-ranking African-American in the state’s banking industry, having served as director of the Division of Banking of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance since 2006.
